Editor's Endwords - All Change

What do you think of the new layout. And what about the title - Consumer News? I think it tells the reader much more about the contents than NfCG NEWS without suggesting a "Which?" spin off. Do tell us what you think.

It is a new experience for me not to be in control of how the magazine looks. I have to surrender all that to the good taste of Roy Bisson and I am tempted to say "if you do not like it then blame him!" but I am sure that his skill in the matter of producing brochures and magazines will ensure that the end result will be to your liking in most areas. Nevertheless do let me know what you think, particularly about the readability of the various sections.

**We hope to increase the size of the magazine by another four pages and increase the circulation. To help pay for this we shall try to attract some advertising. The two go together - more circulation - more interest from advertisers. Clearly, we cannot compromise our stand in connection with matters to do with the critical examination of gooods and products and the welfare and good of consumers. We will, therefore, seek to attract public interest advertising where products and services are not in question. We may be unsuccessful and, in that case the magazine will stay the same size, so there is no threat to its continued publication.

As well as a new layout and title we are trying out a new paper for this issue. It is CyclusPrint recycled paper and is the first genuine recycled paper for printing made from 100% post consumer and post industrial waste. Furthermore it uses no chlorine in the process. All residues from the recycling and manufacturing process are re-used. The combustibles become fuel, the de-inked sludge becomes fertilizer and the solid waste is used in the manufacture of cement.

Once again may I thank the many contributors to this issue. You really do make it all possible, and if we do achieve an extra four pages I do not think I will have much trouble in filling them, which is a situation which many editors will envy. However do not rest on your laurels, keep the articles coming in, and please include illustrations where you can as one of the changes to the magazine, which I hope you like, is to use many more pictures.
