A visit to Jealott's Hill Laboratories on 25 October

The British Crop Protection Council (an NfCG Associate) is an established forum the objective of which is the promotion and encouragement of crop protection. Members include the majority of the associations to which the agrochemical companies belong, as well as distributors of their product and farmers. Thanks to the influence of Vice President Janet Graham, Syngenta, one of their members, has invited us to a full day visit (starting at 10.00 am for coffee, including lunch and finishing at 5 pm) to their laboratories. The visiting party can be up to 25 people. The laboratories are situated outside Bracknell in Berkshire and they will supply directions as to how to get there nearer the time and will pick up those travelling by train. Nearest stations are Bracknell and Maidenhead.

The visit will be divided into two parts which broadly cover safety and the environment in relation to biological and chemical food production, and GMO methods of crop protection. There will be a visit to a farm to explain Integrated Crop Management and 'set aside'. In the laboratories and glasshouses we will learn about Discovery, Formulation, Food Residues, Environmental Impact and Monitoring Studies. Time will be allowed for questions and discussions so please come prepared!
