Food Standards Agency starting a
wide-ranging public consultation exercise

The Food Standards Agency welcomed the announcement on 9th August of the setting up of a Policy Commission on Farming and Food.

Suzi Leather, Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency and NfCG Member, said:

"We welcome the establishment of this Policy Commission. It is important that the Commission understands the views of consumers. The Food Standards Agency will facilitate the input of a strong consumer dimension on the food issues into this debate. We want to do this in an open and inclusive way.

"Today we are starting a wide-ranging public consultation process and we want consumers' voices to be heard. Details of the consultation are being placed on our website: www.foodstandards.gov. uk.

"We will shortly be launching a dedicated website (www.talkfood.org) so that consumers can feed into this very important debate through the Food Standards Agency. A series of other activities, some of which will target specifically disadvantaged groups, will be announced in the coming weeks. "
